Hi All
Tuesday I made my first all grain mash, Think I could have been a little more generous with the hops, Its fermenting away nicely today, Its also my first 10 gallon brew the OG was 1040.

6kg Crushed pale malt
500g Flacked barley
500g Crystal malt
1kg Dark spray malt
1kg White sugar
3oz Black treacle
100g Challenger 8%AA boiled for 1 1/2 hours
60g Cascade boile for last 15mins
yeast

The malt and barley mashed in 3 gallon of water at 68c for 1 1/2 hours, sparged with 2 gallon of water at 75c. wort boiled for 1 1/2 hours with the hops, spray malt, treacle and suger then made up to 10 gallon, cooled and yeast added.

What do you think for a first time. :beer

Hi DAAB
My mash bin is just my boiler wrapped with a few towels, it kept the temperture at 68c ok just had to turn it on once and a quick stir, I use sugar and spray malt in all my brews so it got added as a routine. The recipe started as a Ruddles county but was soon adapted to what was in my store cupboard a little added and a little taken away. The alcohol should be 5 or 6% I think. :stun
