I only put a single layer of PTFE tape on. Will try a few more and see if that helps
Thanks

Fantastic. I put a few more layers on screwed the tap in and there was a tiny dripping. Since only hand tightened, I took it off and put a fe more layers on.
No more dripping. YAY.
The tap is still at a strange angel, but really, who cares? it does the job it is meant to and once my chiller arrives I'll be able to hook it up

Damn damn and damn again....
The tap is still leaking, just in a different place (where the hosing connects the inside supply to the tap outside...) Never thought aboutt his.
Unscrewing everything (again) resulted in me tearing one of my old cuts (from initial instalation) which really really hurt (more than when I first did it).
I think I may have gone a little over board on the PTFE tape, but the leaking has stopped.
This time the work was done in daylight so I can see more (was such a small leak I couldn't see it in the dusk).
I never want to have to replace that tap again so I may well buy some insulation tubing at the end of summer just to be sure it doesn't freeze up (alternatively I could just turn the main supply off when not in use and drain out the excess water!)
Got my hosing to connect to the chiller. Got the Clips to secure to chiller. Just forgot the connector to fit it to the tap. Not to worry though as I already have one on the current hose used to water the garden. Can just swap them when I need 'em till I buy a permanent replacement. Not going to make a trip to B&Q just for this. Will wait till I have to go back there.

Any ideas why the tap won't point down? Points at about 45 degrees. Only way to get it to point down is to loosen it that little bit, which leads to obvious problems.

Again, thanks DaaB. I think that after my frustrations and injuries I am going to leave the tap as it is. It works and there are no leaks. Since it will only be used with a hose attached, the angle doesn't really matter all that much

Hello guys :beer , been reading about your cfc & immersion chillers. Heres my RG 550 Stuart pump with speed control as i like to slow down near the end to sparge my hops  . And my 22 mil outer 15 mil inner cfc with temperature gauge and in line aerator that connects to my air compressor. I can cool instantaneously and empty 110 Litres in less than ten minutes

. It leaves a fare amount of wort in the tubing so i disconnect the compressor and connect to the pump and push rest of beer through to the fermenter.
