Has anybody on the forum got a electrim boiler with a thermostat if so do they have a problem maintaining 66c mash temperature as i do.
I can never get the thermostat to stay on the 66c mash temp it either goes over or minus the 66c, did a mash friday strike heat 72c added grain temp dropped back to 67c turned the thermostat back to where it clicked went for a coffee for about 15mins went back to the mash checked temp and it had rose to 75c anybody got any ideas what the problem is.ss

I was experiencing Shimsham's problem with my Bruheat boiler. Couldn't get it to keep constant temperature. So, for the last couple of brews, I have used an arrangement similar to DaaB's Mk 1 picture. Heat the water in the Bruheat, then mash in a separate bucket with a couple of sleeping bags tied around it, and a duvet over the top. I was amazed at how little the temperature moved over 90 minutes.

However, I must admit I don't have a dog to sit next to mine. We do have cats, but they are almost as uninterested in brewing as Mrs Rands is :(
