What recipe would you recommend for a first 5g AG brew?

I like ale. Strong ale to be precise. But then i do like Best's too. Anything along those lines that is tasty.

I've almost finished my brewery and by the end of this evening a testing run will be performed(without ingredients) to make sure all is as should be.

I'm hoping to brew tomorrow.


Here's what i have in way of ingredients.
5kg MO
1kg Crystal
Fuggles, EKG(100g each, both as pellets), Green Bullet and Sticklebract as flowers.

Muntons premium ale yeast(3) and one sachet of Gervin Ale yeast.

Can anyone suggest a good recipe for my first attempt please.?

I've looked at shed loads and can't decide on one. So i'm hoping someone will throw a recipe in here and i'll go with that.

If you like strong ales you may as well use all the marris otter, a couple of hundred grams of crystal, and go for around 30 ibus of fuggles so doesn't take too long for the initial harsh hop bitterness to fade. (what were the ibus of your fuggles?)

5kg MO
200g Crystal
20 ibus fuggles (60 mins)
10 ibus fuggles (10 mins)

20g steep once the chiller has cooled the wort to 20 deg c.

You could alter the crystal to make it darker or lighter and or you could add a couple of hundred grams of cane sugar to make it stronger.

Of to the fridge to check hops... It says on the packet 'IMP Fuggle Alpha 4.3'

Didn't have enough Fuggles.

I find that funny as i only have 100g pellets of Fuggles & 100g EKG pellets but 500g Sticklebract flowers and 500g Green Bullet flowers.
It's great to be able to laugh at your 'beginner' mistakes. I'm hoping 6 months down the line i'll have a great ale recipe using Sticklebract and/or Green Bullet. But i'll probably run out of them then

You might find a piece of rolled up stainless mesh stuffed in the back of the tap (cut from a cheap frying pan spatter gaurd) should make a pretty good strainer for the pellets. (it works for flowers, I see no reason it shouldn't work for pellets but if it blocks, you'll have to bail out the boiler though, a fine hop bag is another option).

I have some muslin bags that i plan to use for the hop pellets, i'm hoping these and my strainer will be sufficient.
