Lagering in Bottles

Post by CIT » Sun Jan 27, 2008 10:59 pm

I have made three all grain lagers over the past couple of months, two Pilsners and a Bock. I normally rely on leaving in the garage for a few months over the winter for lagering, but with the milder winter this year, and also with all three of my barrels being out of action for a few months, I was wondering if I can bottle the lagers and continue the lagering process in the bottles. Is there any reason for not lagering in bottles???

The first time I tried Dave Line's recipe for Grolsch I did just that. I'd added around 1/2 tspn of sugar and left it for almost twelve months in My Brothers garage. Tasted great. See no reason for not doing it so long as the FG is right else bottle bombs!
