Hi
My first AG "Epping Forest Dark" from the "Goldings Brewery" (I actually live on a hill called Goldings Hill!) is coming up to 6 days fermentation OG 1051 SG now 1013/1014 (Windsor yeast).
I am going to bottle it. What I am wondering is wether I should rack to a secondary for a period, or just go straight for the bottles.
Your opinions would be most welcome.
cheers & ttfn benm
First AG - Seconday or not
Hello I tend to go for Daabs 10 days to reduce the sediment then transfer to my beer sphere for minimum of 3 weeks for an og similer to what you started with longer in the barrel for higher gravity ales. I dont use finnings or priming sugars when bottling and find after about 6 to 8 weeks in the bottle the beer is cleared and nicely carbonated.
I would recomend useing safale us 05 yeast as this sticks really well to the bottom of the bottle have not got round to trying the windsor yeast yet.
