Chocolate mild recipe

Post by farleyman » Sun Aug 24, 2008 11:30 am

Pleasure,
I have been playing about with this for quite a while and have
settled on the following as my standard mild brew. I have not
quoted sg`s as everyones system is different but 4 - 4.5 abv
should be o.k.

All weights imperial and temps deg. F.

For 6 galls.

8 lbs. pale malt
9 ozs. chocolate malt 500Lov.
! oz. patent black makt 1160Lov.
1.5lbs. flaked barley
1lb. soft dark brown sugar
1oz. fuggles hops
1.5ozs. northdown hops

Mash at 152-154deg. F. for 90mins.
Boil fuggles and 1oz. n/down for 90mins. and add
half oz. n/down at switch off.
Add sugar after 30 mins.

My preferred yeast is Danstar Windsor. Don`t make a starter, just re-hydrate in water.

Give it a try it really is good.

Cheers Farleyman
