Proposed 2nd brew

Post by ade1865 » Fri Aug 29, 2008 12:56 pm

My 1st brew was:

5kg MO
300g crystal

15g cascade at 60, 30, 1 minute of boil.

Nottingham yeast

has turned out about 5.5%.

For my 2nd brew i'm thinking:

4kg MO
500g crystal

First Gold hops
Notingham yeast.

My thinking: I'm looking to produce something a bit darker and slightly less alcohol without skewing the basic taste too much, to allow me to see what First Gold tastes like compared to Cascade.

Question: Does this sound feasible, and how much hops do i add? Saem as i did for the cascade? and how do i work that out.

Cheers

Danny

thats roughly the same grain bill as my house beer I like it malty too so start the mash up at 68. 25 to 30 ibu is great and a lot of flavour and aroma hop near 75% of hops in last 10 mins and when cooling.

Not sure how a hop like first gold will go with it but worth a try.
