I personally do all my brewing outside. The first time I used the boiler, I noticed that there was an almost perfect circle of cleanliness on the wooden decking right where I did my boil. With that in mind, I decided that it was probably unwise to try doing my boil on a cushioned chair.

I had considered putting the boiler on a table however, the current table isn't that stable. I have considered getting the plastic table out of the shed, but have never been bothered as this wold require 'construction' each time.

I feel fairly safe lifting the quantities I do and never lift boiling (or near boiling) wort, just hot wort (under 70 oC).

Luckily the wife has absolutely no interest in my brewing which means she never sees what I do. As an Environmental and Safety Officer, I thikn she would certainly have something to say!!

I have to admit that I do lift my boiler (albeit after a 10 minute cooling period) from the floor to a height that I can syphon through the CFC. I have been thinking of getting a pump but am not keen on adding more things that require cleaning - I like KISS :D

The only thing I have to lift now is the 23L of 23degC finished wort in the fermenter from the garage to indoors where I pitch the yeast 8)
