Cask Ale dispense video! Are you engaged in the arts?

Post by Whorst » Sun Nov 02, 2008 5:49 am

Well, here it is. Satan's Folly, or aka Hello Dave was unleashed this evening. Please understand that I drank 7 pints of this lovely ale, and approximately 5 were taken in at the time of this video. This is my Amarillo/Centennial brew that was created about 4 weeks ago. Starting gravity 1.055. Finished at 1..010, so it's got some punch. I take no responsibility for the size of my head or the sheer down syndrome like behavior I possess. Please view with caution.

14 pulls to get a pint?

Maybe some pump maintainance/overhall is due?

Yes my thoughts exactly. On my 1/4 pint pull engine it takes 4 pulls to get a pint (suprisingly  ). I would also suggest taking that sparkler off (or adjusting it if it is adjustable) as that may control the the excessive foaming a bit.

Can't hear what you're saying above the Dropkick Murphys

Good vid!

Being a tad pished didn't help the judgement in making the video. Yes, the music was too loud. I'm not into the Dropkick Murphys. If I was going to listen to that sort of music, I'd prefer The Pogues. Anyway, back to the pump, the keg pressure was roughly 10 psi at 50F, which equates to 1.98 volumes of Co2. Maybe with my particular system, I need to go lower, maybe 1.25 or 1.5? Do any of you try to estimate Co2 volumes in your beer?? Thanks for watching.

I just performed a test on a corny filled with just water. My engine is a 1/4 pull. It takes 4 pulls to get a pint. My guess is that I should've vented longer, or primed in a smaller dose.

Great vid Whorst. I was wearing exactly the same T-Shirt when I was putting the Brakspear yeast on the stir plate this morning. I've now got a Discharge one on as I'm showered and going to the pub :D

That sounds more like it. When I use my engine I don't have any pressure from the container I keep my beer in at all - I let the engine do the work. :)
