Ow Do
I have not posted here much but like many have lurked for a good 6 months - extracted a wealth of knowledge from what has been posted and pm'd individuals (ALL of who responded with embarassing swiftness) for more information or clarity on something.
I did my first brew (straight in to AG) last weekend (a week ago, not the one just gone) with my father in law - in good tradition we got legless on the beer we were trying to copy (old speckled hen) and were so out of it by the end of the process I have no idea how it all ended up in a FV with yeast in it.
My shame............ I posted that I did not have an apparently air tight FV so I ordered a new one from hop and grape and racked it off into that and took a small sample to taste (it was 5 days old) - it is now not going to make it out of the secondary into bottles - and I have to try and explain to my father in law how it evapourated (it tasted so god damn surprisingly good - how two pissed up idiots ever managed to produce something that was not erring on the side of toxic I will put in the laps of the god that is AG forgiveness).
My point - you are ALL very bad people - you should be ashamed of yourselves and I am going to blame you ALL when said father in law looks me in the eye and demands his 20pts!!!

Re: My AG shame
Best to get another brew on and tell the father in law that its "conditioning"
Well done on your first AG
And yes we are all evil
encouraging folk like yourself that you can make beer from malt and hops, there should be a law against us

Well done on your first AG

Re: My AG shame
i agree with P2 - get another brew on pronto
Or........You could aldulterate some commercial ale with some vinegar, bottle it and ask your father in law to sample, saying you think it might of gone off.........

A fine beer may be judged with only one sip, but it's better to be thoroughly sure.

Think how good it will be when conditioned
Re: My AG shame
A story old as brewing I would guess, Can't help but have a taste then when it tastes that good you cannot stop. Look on the bright side, it could taste like Budweiser.
