All Grain Brewers - Belfast/N.Ireland

Post by steve71ni » Sat Nov 15, 2008 4:02 pm

Hi to all, I am about to embark on my first all grain brew and was wondering if there is any other all grainers in the Belfast area who have information on the local water profile. I would be interested to know member's experiences, are pH/salts adjustments of much consequence?. I am intending to make a simple pale ale. Any other info of local interest would be appreciated - supplies, clubs etc.

best,
steve.

Hi
Im over in carrick so my water won't be identical to your own, but as far as i know belfast water is still relatively soft so it'll probably benefit from the addition of gypsum for hoppy or CaCl2 for malty type brews.
I think there is only a few AGers from N.I on here so no clubs that i know of, supplies i tend to get from the internet, postage can be pricey but if you order in bulk it isn't too bad.
All the best, Delboy.
