The problem is related to a shit crush. My system works great about 99% of the time, unless I happen to purchase malt for a certain supplier. Too much flour gums up the whole bed, and doesn't allow for drainage.

Is a floating grain bed beneficial? I've always knocked the air out of the mash so that it sinks when sparging and forms a filter bed.
I think the theory is that not knocking all the air out of the grain will ensure that it doesn't pack down too hard on the fb/manifold causing it to block.
