Colour of Young's Crystal Malt in Lovibond, SRM, or EBC?

Post by guildofevil » Thu Jan 11, 2007 4:09 pm

Hi All,
Does anyone know what the Lovibond, SRM, or EBC value of Young's crystal malt is? I'm playing with ProMash at the moment.

Thanks

I usually put it in the British crystal at around 55-60L, I would be surprise if it was as high as 105 L, but I could be wrong.

Yeah, I was deciding between 55L and 75L.

Sod it. I'll just throw in half a kilo and drink the beer that comes out the other end.

It should be on the label. I use 55l, that seems to be the most widely available.

I don’t think is, or at least the one we get in Ireland. I remember having a the same problem.

No, it's not on the label.

The Young's Malts my LHBS sells don't have the colour marked on them and the hops don't have the AA listed. That's why I buy Brupacks hops from hopshopuk.com. Hops, unlike grain, are light, so the international shipping doesn't break the bank.

I just got a mail back from young’s; they say their crystal malt has an EBC value of 152, that 57 SRM, around what we thought.

To convert EBC to SRM: Multiple EBC by .375 and add .46

Good to have a definitive answer.

Thanks oblivious.
