Left out irish moss - much to worry about?

Post by Matt » Thu Feb 01, 2007 11:22 pm

Fr*g it. I was feeling smug about getting another batch in the FV whilst I managed to complete a days work (I work freelance from a studio at home).

But there's always something to burst your bubble eh, and I realised I neglected to put the irish moss in for the last 15 mins.

I'm not experienced enough to know whether this is much to worry about. My thought that it'll probably be OK. If not, is there anything I can do in secondary (I plan to bottle)?

Cheers,
Matt

Don't worry about it :)
So long as you had a good rolling boil you will be ok :D
If it is a problem there's always auxiliary finings :D
Everything you could ever possibly want or need to know about beer clarification is here http://www.brewerssupplygroup.com/pdf/k ... Manual.pdf :boff:

Tubby, OK 8), thanks.

Yes I did, plus I cooled with an IC, which I believe helps (?).

I forgot the moss last time I brewed and I did use gelatine later and it turned out to be my clearest brew so far. Crystal clear infact.

I forget the Irish Moss about 40% of the time. No need to worry.

I ran out of the stuff for my last brew but one - it cleared so well I started to wonder why I bother with it! :?
