Trying to get my method sorted as I am a bit confused (a touch late for this brew, but..)
Should I: a) wait for wort to cool to 80C a la GW, add my hops, leave for 20-30 mins and then turn on the chiller.
b) wait for wort to cool to 80C a la GW, add my hops, turn on chiller straight away
c) add hops at flameout, wait for 20-30 mins, then turn on chiller
d) add hops at flameout, wait for temp to drop to 80C, then turn on chiller
e) add hops at flameout, turn on chiller straight away
f) none of the above.
Post boil hop additions: best practice??
Re: Post boil hop additions: best practice??
i would go for c.whether its the best practice i dont know, but thats what i do..
Re: Post boil hop additions: best practice??
I go with option 'a'
-chill to 80oc then steep hops for 30 mins, then back on with the chiller.

How about a combo of A & C? Add some hops at flameout, chill slowly to ~80C add more hops and steep for ~20-30mins then chill all the way down to pitching temp. Sounds good to me as I've done it several times before and the results tasted great

I do "e" (never thought I'd say that!)
but I'd consider "b".
I think it's best to cool quickly for the break and also to arrest any further hop alpha acid conversion from flavouring additions.
I get plenty of hop aroma and taste by doing "e".
I don't think there is a "best practice" as some will be more beneficial to different brews.
