Just popped back in to this thread to pick up the recipe as I am posting this off on saturday for the CBA festival in Derby on 31/3/07. Anyone else attending?

Just tried a bottle and has matured nicely - not bad at all imo :D . Colour seems a lot lighter than the picture of the keg version I posted way back :?

How did yours go B_D :?:

So youre entering it into competition
Certainly am but have no delusions of winning  Thought it rude not to and with the winner getting to do the brew at a commercial brewery .... Dave Line would be proud

I was seriously considering it but it's the girlfriend's birthday that weekend... I don't think she'd react well to a trip down to Derby

My birthday is the day before, but I'm working. I think The Leader of The Opposition will be planning something for the 31st - which unfortunately does not include a trip to Derby

I tried some yesterday actually, and it's the colour of lager and pretty darn bitter. I'm not fussed by the colour, but I'm hoping the bitterness will mellow a bit. I'm also hoping the hop flavour will develop a bit more (I copied your dry hopping  ). I think I'm going to revert to steeping hops for 20 mins though, as this seems to give me the most hop flavour. The maize has come through nicely.

Anyway, good luck in the comp 8)

Hmmm - so what's the format of these festivals then? - Just checked and I can get a 'cheap' :? day return train ticket for 11.90.

EB

This is my first time there but as I understand it there is some talks / Home brew equipment display in the morning while judging of beers takes place.

1pm to 6pm brewers/judges and guests get to sample all the brews until all gone.
Apparently the pub its being held in is a spilt pints throw from the train station and apparently has a huge selection of real ales when/if the event runs dry.

ps my 'cheap' ticket is £28 return but better than the normal £50
