Been a tight arse with money can i use a cotton pillow case as a grain bag or has anyone got a better idea lol :D

Hmm, I would think you need something with a coarser mesh to avoid your sparge taking forever. Also, the runnings will escape from all around which will allow sparge water to bypass the grains.

A 'proper' sparge bag is made of impermeable material round the sides (e.g. canvass) with a coarse mesh bottom.

Maybe time to dip the hand in the old pocket! :wink:

Cheer up Dave - consider all the money you'll save by brewing from grain - my last brew worked out at less than 20p a pint :wink:
