This Weekends Brew (Fledgling Bitter)

Post by Wez » Tue May 15, 2007 8:35 pm

I'm hoping to come up with something which will become my 'stock' bitter, this is what I have in mind...

Brewlength 25L

4350gm Pale Malt (2 Row) UK (5.9 EBC) Grain 94.8 %
240gm Caramel/Crystal Malt - 10L (19.7 EBC) Grain 5.2 %

90 min 66deg mash

55gm Challenger [6.80%] (90 min) Hops 37.6 IBU
10gm Fuggles [4.90%] (15 min) Hops 2.3 IBU
25gm Styrian Goldings [2.00%] (15 min) Hops 2.3 IBU
1tsp Irish Moss (Boil 15.0 min) Misc

90 min boil

Working on a brewhouse efficiency of 75% it should give me an OG of 1041 so should be somewhere around 4.0abv.

EBU = 42.2 (according to beersmith)

Does this look ok? More EBU's? Any other suggestions?

Hey Wez, looks great to my uneducted brain, 42 EBU seems fine, I wouldn't think there was any need to go higher.
