Brewday 22.05.07 First Gold

As a single hopped First Gold ale is becoming my staple beer, I thought I'll have a play with Guildofevils recipe.

23 Litre Recipe

3.5kg Marris Otter
250g Crystal Malt

Mash 66c 90 min

50g First Gold 8.2% AA 60min
30g First Gold 8.2% AA 30min
10g First Gold 8.2% AA 10 min

10g First Gold 8.2% AA Primary

Whirfloc tablet added @ 17min

Danstar Nottingham yeast.

Cheers Vossy1 sort of. Had to change from the false bottom to a grain bag because of a stuck mash and lost about a litre of wort due to an open tap Apart from that everything else was peachy

Cheers Daab, as you've probably read, it didn't go totally to plan but it still wasn't a disaster by any means. As for the recipe, recently I tend to prefer simple single hop beers especially when brewed with First Gold or Fuggles

Grain bags do the job well, unlike my false bottom. Maybe more holes is the way to go.

I always use a grain bag, dont know if this makes much difference!

Depends on how often you need to use them. I find my efficiency drops hugely when forced to use them. But saying that, they've saved my arse more often than not
