I brewed 5kg of Marris Otter and 300g of crystal, which according to Aleman's figures should give me [5.3x296=]1569 at 100% efficiency.

I didn't measure the OG of the wort prior to boiling, do I need to do this?

On running off post boil into the FV i had colelcted 21.2L at 1052, which, if I've got this right gives me 1102.4. Which gives me 70% efficiency. [brewhouse]

ER is this right? or have I left something out?

Not for brewhouse efficiency and your calculations appear to be correct. My math would be;

Pale: 5kg * 300/21L = 71
Crystal: 0.3 * 240/21L = 3.4
Total 74.4 * .70 efficiency = 52 (1052deg)

Good stuff :D

I have been working on an excel file that will automatically calculate your mash efficiency according to your recipe and measured gravity. I will upload it somewhere for you all to test when I get it done.

Boys which one is it that matters Mash or brewhouse....
I thought it was mash as that is a reflection of how much goodness you have squeezed out of your grain...

Brew house efficiency is very dependent on brewers kit, and for that reason when I give a recipe I always specify Mash Efficiency i.e the total amount of extract in the boiler with all the additional copper sugars added. If someone quotes brew house efficiency with a recipe there is no certainty that you will be able to hit the same figures with the same ingredients even if yours BHE is the same . . .
