At the other end of the scale, I have a 19kg propane bottle, and have done 4 x 90 minute boils (23l finished volume) so far from it. It appears to be a bit over 3/4 full still, although with no gauge it's difficult to tell. I am judging by looking at the level that the condensation stops forming on the bottle when it's in use and using that as the liquid level.

If that is the case, then if we said it was 80% full, I'd expect to get 20 x 90 minute boils from a 19Kg bottle, and the refill price is £37 - so about £1.85 per boil in gas. Or about a kilo of propane per boil

I only use one burner compared to Aleman's 2, and I run my regulator at 1 bar as opposed to his 2 bar - so that accounts for a 4X difference in gas used.

Beesley - the same type as Aleman. A Bullfinch Unilow 1365 furnace.

Aleman's is a dual burner version, mine is a single.

Nice kit Adm, where did you get the stainless from?? I have given up on electric elements but struggling to find decent stainless kit for 25 litre boils.

The Mashtun is a Nordic Optical 38.5l thermobox from eBay and the kettle is a 60 qt pot from MoreBeer that came with the ballvalve and a thermometer port fitted already. I hand carried it back from a trip to the US.....much to the annoyance of British Airways!

My plastic dual element 10G H&G boiler is now the HLT

This is basically a 10G setup, but the mashtun will probably be too small if I want to brew 10G batches over about 1060 or so.
