Cheers guys - the bottled ones will give me an idea if corni at fault. Probably a good idea to clean those o rings. Is there a nut inside the corni or is it just a case of unscrewing the post on outside. Also guess I should clean the dip tube thing

Cheers

Thanks for the update Bigster 8)

As Steve says it looks a tad darker than harveys, but closer to the original than if you hadn't put black malt in.

Interesting that it tastes like the wheeler TTL recipe. I've got a barrel of TTL waiting to be drunk, so it'll be interesting to see what that's like.

Will be interested to know BD. I used marris otter in the TTL as well so if you have used the bonafide malt may be different.

I have no idea what malt I used in the TTL, other than the fact it was a pale malt - I bought it from a local micro and didn't think to ask what it was #-o

So unscrew posts from outside. O rings then are on outside too? Must have a look at mine as bit confused (again :D )

Have ordered a set of corni O rings from hop and grape and while there ordered one of those universal barrel connections so that I can pump my KK from my pub style CO2 instead of the S30.
One thing - do I just branch off from the tube from the regulator and if so do I use JG fittings and where is the best place to get them. :?:
Questions, questions, questions :D

Great thread. Harvey's Sussex is my favourite pint ever, I'd kill for a pint!

Can't argue with you there 8) , except for the killing bit

Inspired by Bigster, I'm going to have another go at Dave Line's Harveys recipe this weekend 8) Can't wait :=P

Good on you BD. Are you going to stick with DL's recipe or tinker a bit? Certainly the dry hopping you suggested is starting to kick in very nicely.

Good luck :D

Glad to hear it's going well. I might just steep some goldings at the end but otherwise stick to Line's recipe (keeping an eye on the IBUs); not sure, haven't decided.

Do you think you got any flavour off the black malt? I'm tempted to bung some black malt in for colour as you did if it doesn't affect the flavour.

This one is certainly low on the bitter front and very smooth. This may be because I didnt treat with gypsum so if ph papers are right well in to 6+ rather than 5.2
Still has TTL connatations IMO which is no bad thing. I used Roast barley right at end of mash and I cant notice that flavour whereas not a great deal more was used in abbott clone from the start and it was very roasty toasty.
Probably 20/25g of roast would give the colour?

Yeah right vossy - cost me £55 :!: Incl P&P and another corni keg

Norm said that it looks as though wont be able to have chrome taps on future orders as supplies dried up

His email also mentioned the outside of keg being polished - made me think does anyone 'buff their keg' ( no not bash the bishop  ) and what do they use. There seems to be a wealth of info on internet ranging from really tricky blah blah through to use white vinegar :?:
