For those interested, the price of a Barley Crusher Mill including shipping to the UK but not VAT (I didn't have to pay it this time

) was
15lb Hopper+Airmail $194
15lb Hopper+Surface $178
7lb Hopper+Airmail $169
7lb Hopper+Surface $154
The thing comes shipped assembled and ready to go.
Incidently, I've got a second brew going today. Strike was at 83C and I hit 68C in the mash. Temp has dropped a couple of degrees over the hour.
I'm brewing an Scottish 80/- today. I can post the recipe if anyone is interested.

My wife is a bit keen on tidyness but she's been very accomodating with the brewery spending - basically anything I've wanted she said if you really want it then get it
I need a couple of freezers - one as a fermentation cabinet and the other as a bar.
Oh...and I need to build that damn RIMS unit.
BTW, I'm not an engineer but I am a Scientist. The real engineers are on this board. Much credit goes to Seveneer for all his tips and Vossy for trailblazing in the quest for shiny!

nice , very nice Steve. Lovely and tidy. watch out though the missus will have it carpeted

( thats whats happened to my garage since I kept it tidy for brewing )
btw belto - good to see another brizzle brewer. We are a bit thin on the ground - if you need any help let me know I live in North Common.
Cheers

Steve - lovely setup. Very neat.
So could you take us through it... what does/will each pump do?
Frothy
P.S. Got all the bits for a reasonable HERMS now but priming the pump is a problem that is putting me off

OK, will do. I'm half way through the boil on a brew right now so I'll do it later. There is a knack to priming I've found. Basically open the input and output taps and let it gurgle a bit. Start the pump - if no joy, then turn off pump and wait a bit more. Turn on pump - repeat until stuff comes out the other end!

OK, It's based on Jamil Zainashef's recipe but as we can't get Honey Malt here I've added a little Melanoidin instead (less than the amount of Honey Malt that would've been used)
OG 1.048, IBU 29, 13 SRM, 19L
Pale Malt 3.33kg
Light Crystal 380g
Munich 190g
Dark Crystal 140g
Pale Chocolate 70g
Melanoidin 70g
Mash 66-68C, 1hr
Challenger (7.5%) start of boil
Whirlfloc 1/2 tablet 15 mins from end
Boil for 1 hour.
Cool and ferment with Safale US-05/US-56

Thanks,
Gives me some things to think about. My first all grain was a basic 80/- merely golden promise, some med crystal (and a little debittered black for color) with Wyeast Scottish yeast and Goldings at the beginning of the boil. My OG, IBU were the same as yours. SRM was 17 I think.
My plan with my all grains is to start simple and add and subtract overtime to taste.

Gr8 new set up SF
Love the Pic's
Very tidy SF, and a supportive Mrs....what more could a man ask for...conicals would be a start...very jealous 7
Frothy, priming pumps was the hardest thing in my set up...so simple yet it took too long to sort, and various different configurations
I've found that the hardest things with new builds is that once they're running properly there's nothing left to do
Except drink
