It was the volumetric flask that Walter got his knickers in a twist about when Jesse said that was what he used for boiling.
The Erlenmeyer flask or conical flask is designed for boiling liquids its shape helps trap condensed liquid escaping.

Update;

Today's boil went well. Low heat, lots of swirling and watching it like a hawk.

No boiling over. Much better than boiling in a saucepan, pouring into a jug then pouring into the flask.
