Mk II mods were 3 times as many cuts as before ( every 5mm )and the cuts were at least half way through and often 2/3 as its hard to judge. However try and avoid going 3/4 the way through - it is a little fragile in places now
Also I invested in a new 12" blade for my hacksaw - one with 24 teeth per 25mm. What a difference, flew through the copper hence the odd 3/4 cut  . Also width of cut was at least 1mm and before no where near - no wonder it stuck.
Had to keep turning the tap off for spinny sparger to catch up. Daab suggests 22mm copper which I guess would work out at £20 ish whereas £10 ish for the 15mm I have made. However looking back i would have gladly paid the extra tenner if i could have avoided the grief with the Royal oak brew.
Good luck with yours :beer
