Just had a look at my Barley crusher and noticed an o-ring on the drive roller. The o-ring is on the roller itself, the opposite end to the handle. Is everyone's like this ?

Mine was like that for about 5 seconds of use then it broke. It only seems to be there to allow the idle roller to turn when you have no grain in the hopper. They all break off fairly soon after you start using the mill with no degradation to performance.

Mine lasted about five brews then fell off.

O ring intact :) How much harder would it have been be to engineer a geared drive for the second roller. Cost conciousness I guess. Still, if it works...

Ah yes. You loosen the locking screw, move the adjustment knobs one way or another keeping the rollers parallel, then tighten it up...when you've mucked up your crush thinking you know better, you can return it to where it was because they marked the default position. I find the default crush just fine. Good efficiency and not a hint of a stuck mash. With the barley crusher, a few grains slip through whole, but they're not going between the rollers, they're going around the back of them, due to the design. As it's only a few, it's no big deal.

I should remember that the next time I get complaints that the hops have 'spread' to another drawer.
 My Mrs complained the other day that something she'd defrosted and ate tasted of hops  , she now knows not to infiltrate my beer freezer with food stuffs  all is well again
