ohhhhhwww ! thats hurts just reading it !!!!!
Re: Hop and Grain supplies
I just looked on my closest maltsters website and its more expensive than the LHBS. How do that work?
Re: Hop and Grain supplies
Whereabouts are you? Most maltsters aren't set up to deal with the odd punter coming in for a bag or two. If you arrange a bulk buy with a group of local homebrewers you should be able to negotiate a good deal....
Re: Hop and Grain supplies
Yeah that's fair. I could call them. I'm down in Cornwall. Closest to me is Tuckers in Newton Abbott. About 1.5hrs drive. I was tempted to drive up if it was worth it but they do 25kg for about £25. Same price as HBS

I realise that and reported them. My comment was a joke. They seem to have forgotten to put the link in the post.

Best to just file a report (much appreciated
) and ignore otherwise after the spammer + posts gets deleted we end up with odd conversations like this in the middle of threads

Dan!
Re: Hop and Grain supplies
I agree it isn't a great price, but on the other hand it is floor malted and if you visit then it is a good day out - tour around the maltings, visit the bottled beer shop (look through any bargains past their sell by date), deal with moaning kids ("oh dad, can we go now, I'm bored") etc.Belter wrote:Yeah that's fair. I often get my sister (who lives in Devon) to drop me up a bag when she visits. They have a big stock at the Tuckers Country stores, so she can pick up for me from near home and I get it without delivery.

Re: Hop and Grain supplies
I use murphys homebrew supplies these days, always good service quick delivery and good products... my guess is if they are supplying local micros they must turn over stock quickly so should be reasonable fresh grain... none of the local shops sell it any way one of them has a laughable pricing structure for what they do sell and the other if he is still there was very rude last time i used him so as you may guess never went back...
Re: Hop and Grain supplies
Murphy's are very good if you can collect. Their delivery prices are just plain rude. I broke a 1.000- - 1-050 hydrometer a few weeks ago. Price - wise, they were there or thereabouts, maybe a few quid over if truth be told, but they wanted near on £30 to deliver it. All I can say is google Stevenson and Reeves.
Re: Hop and Grain supplies
Placed an order online with the Malt Miller over the weekend and it arrived today complete and well packaged very good value
Re: Hop and Grain supplies
A quick word for Colchester Home Brew. If you need next day delivery, absolutely reliable. Great service over the phone.
Re: Hop and Grain supplies
First time with Malt Miller, good price, great delivery time and the smell was great - you could really tell it had been milled a day before.
