Video Nasty

Post by soakins » Sat Mar 08, 2008 1:36 am

Has any of you thought about making an instructional video on one of your brewdays? There are some bits on youtube already. Perhaps you might know of some of the existing youtube stuff that's useful.

With such a wealth of information on the site, it's sometimes hard to visualise how operations are actually performed. As one reads through different 'brewday' stories it's clear that people use different gear and take different approaches. Making a useful video would be hard work, but there must be some budding talent amongst the fine folk who post here?

Seveneer and Andy did one not so long ago, you may want to ask them where the vid is posted!

Too true DaaB, although the voyuer (spelling?) in us usually want pics or better still a vid of the day.

Once I become talented enough to actually make a brew which doesn't go belly up I think I will place my camera a la fly on the wall (I have a galley style kitchen) and film it all. Unfortunately, youtube only allows for 7 - 10 min clips so it gets back to what you were saying DaaB, editing of a minimum 5 hours would be a mare.

Still, one day eh?

I made a video of my Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day get together back in November.

It's on my web site linked below but unfortunately I had to split it into two chunks for Youtube and I also haven't put any audio on it.

It's not really an instructional video though; more of a record of how I brew on my system.

I'm hoping to do a video once I have my brewday set up a bit better, at the moment I'm mashing and sparging in the kitchen and boiling in the garden when it isn't too windy. Going to try and make it an entertaining and informative little number.

I've found some of the ones on youtube have been both good and bad but a picture paints a thousand words and for someone who's never seen the all-grain process it could help. Just my 2p worth.
