Fireside Stout
Help Required!!
I'm going to start brewing Fireside Stout in the next hour, just realised I haven't any carafoam, should I substitute the weight of the missing ingredients with maris otter malt?

Hi All,
Got brew underway at 11.00am, I substituted the carafoam for torrified wheat as recommended by earlier post, thx!
I should have been better prepared for this brew, I forgot the choc and black malt needed crushing and I ain't got a machine to do it..."ROLLING PIN" req.
Anyway, all seems to be going well, smells nice, although the wife doesn't agree with my sense of smell.
After an hour mash temp is 63c, only lost 3c, ready now to heat sparge water!
Is it O.K to substitute 30g Cascade for 40g of Fuggles, if no, any recommendations?

If you can manage to leave some for about 4 weeks it grows in depth of flavour and wows the taste buds even more. 56/60 at DerbyBarnsleyBrewer wrote:Just put it in the keg, 1.020, tastes great!!
