experimental ginger flavoured ale

Post by fraserjaxx » Sat May 24, 2008 4:06 pm

I have been brewing full mash now for 1 year with good results and only a couple of disasters.I am at this moment in the middle of a brew and this will leave me with 2k of maris otter leftover.
Now,I do enjoy ginger beer and have made a good one by boiling up ginger, lemons and sugar, fermenting and bottling up to leave for a few months.I have had a couple of bottles today and a plan has hatched.
What I plan to do is, instead of using my leftover maris otter to brew a smaller batch of ale(as I would normally),is to combine a ginger beer brew with an ale brew to create a ginger flavoured ale.
My question is this,is this going to work or should make 2 seperate beers ?
I intend to make both at the same time tomorrow and then mix them at the boil stage,or boil them seperately and combine before cooling, but combine them both in the same fermenter and add the yeast.
I hope you can understand my muddled plan.Any good or have I been drinking too much too early
