Ooops, have i f**ked up?

Post by Talisman » Wed Jun 11, 2008 7:51 pm

Got home tonight and looking in on my BT fermenting and remembered reading on here about skiming the crud off the top.

So thought ok ill do that. Got my spoon and a tub. The top layer was a thick gooie light beige colour and under neath throthy. Clearing the top layer took the bottom layer with it.. I got half way through and thought SH*T did i remember right!!!

Was i right?? Are you suppose to do this? Bearing in mind it went mad yesterday and had foamed all over the top of the FV. So it must have cleared itself yesterday...

Have i f**ked up here?

I dont think you need/meant to remove it, mine went away after a few days. Gotta watch out for top fermenting yeast too.

You could check the gravity, if it's done you might be ok if the yeast didn't survive.
