Is Fullers ESB dry-hopped?
I thought I had a pretty good clone recipe but it seems to be lacking just a little on the hop side. The recipe isnt handy at the moment but I'm thinking of dry-hopping it , what would you use?

It's been a while since i've had it on cask but i don't seem to remember a particurly hoppy nose, more kind of malty & fruity. If you want to dry hop, I would try a small amount of East Kent Goldings, maybe 5g.

Yeah, its malty and fruity but it doesnt seem to have the nose that I remember (or at least think I remember)
I guess its an excuse to head to the British Beer Works and have one
EKG, thats what I was thinking

According to Roger Protz its with Golding, this info is from "The taste of beer" from around 1998-2000, so thing may have changed since?

No idea... all I can say for certain is it doesnt have the pungent dry-hopped Goldings aroma that Fullers Chiswick bitter has... leads me to believe that the ESB isn't dry hopped or at least not in the cask.

Maybe I'll go with the wifes opinion
"Why do you want to do ANYTHING to this" as she puts her hand over the pint.......

ESB is dry hopped. Pride is not. That's from John Keeling, Fuller's director of brewing, last summer.

Aye, quite right Steve & O, I can hang my head here. Michael Jackson says the same. Still... it doesnt obviously smell dry-hopped, does it? Or are my smell-buds just crap?

A good fresh draught pint most definitely does.

Ach, well, i've only had it on cask once up here. Doubt it would be too fresh by the time it reaches us.
