Old Speckled Hen gravity

Post by youreds91 » Wed Sep 03, 2008 10:12 am

I've just started my AG career with a London Pride & more recently Old Speckled Hen on Saturday, you can see my adventures in the Brewdays forum.
Having used kits previously I'm used to them taking about a week to ferment out. The OSH had an SG of 1051, I pitched the yeast at around 7PM last saturday, I checked last night night & it was already down to 1010 after what I can only describe as a vigourous fermentation, is this normal? Going on that it's ready for going in the secondary with the dry hops.

I ferment in a utility room which is around 21°C & used Nottingham yeast.

Cheers

Doesn't seem that fast to me. My last wheat beer took about that amount of time and was at 18C the whole time.

I use S-04 on most of my brews, and they tend to ferment out in 2-3 days.
