Protofloc Question

Post by alefric » Fri Sep 05, 2008 12:08 am

HELP.....i've just brewed my second AG and having seen a thread about Irish moss i tried protofloc for the first time. All seems well except that i appear to have what looks like soggy bread just below the surface. Is this normal with protofloc? or have i done something wrong?

Cheers

Andrew

Normal.

This stuff circulates in the boiler in the convection currents until it finally cools and settles to the bottom.

It'll all settle out in the boiler unless you use a CFC in which case most of it will settle out in the FV. My experience is...It makes no difference.

In fact some of my brews with a lot of "carry over" (I use a CFC) have provided ales that have cleared quickest.
