How do you work out

Post by DRB » Mon Oct 09, 2006 12:16 pm

I've made up a recipie by looking through a brewing book and adjusting grains to what I want, based on the fact I'm doing 12 litre batches, heres what I've got

PALE MALT 1500g

CRYSTAL MALT 550g

WHEAT 150g
As i'm very raw to brewing how would I work out what og this would be and how much water for mashing in would required.

Seems like a lot of crystal to me.

The original recipie was

PALE MALT 3,000g

CRYSTAL MALT 1,400g
FOR 23 LITRES ,I just halved the crystal to 700g as i'm doing 12litres then took another 150g off the 700g of crystal to make it 550g but adding the 150g back on using wheat.

When calculating for extract from the grains it say's eg

3.8x300/23 do I as i'm doing 12 litres do eg 3.8x150/12 or do I keep the times 300 the same.
