OG

Hello.

I made Old Hooky Dark Ale from teh DL book yesterday. MY OG was at 1044 and the book was saying it should be at 1049. The temperature was at 22 degrees when I took the reading. Would there be a reson why I didn't hit the correct OG?

I did have to top up with around 4 litres of water.

Thanks, Chris.

Matt

your efficiency would have been less than whatever the book recipes were based on chris. Was your og reading done before topping up?

Dave lines recipes are always based on a ridiculously high efficiency, I normally use 20% more grain than is stated in the recipe to account for this.
