elements cutting out

I know a few people always have this problem , myself included, and there are several ways to prevent it including removing the trip switch . If like me you cant seem to get the trip switch out and are fed up of interupting boils to clean the element or find that it still cuts out despite cleaning it before hand there may be another very simple factor involved.

If you tend to switch the boiler on as soon as the element is covered whicle sparging you are heating it up when its surrounded by teh sweetest and thickest wort. wait until most of the wort has run through and it should be diluted enough so it doesnt turn your element into a toffee apple which cuts out all the time.

it takes a bit longer getting the wort to the boil but its still quicker than cleaning it mid boil. sorry if this is obvious but Ive been trying it recently and havent had any problems so far :D

A lot of people use 2 elements without a thermostat.
To get to the boil you use both elements and then just unplug one of them at boil.
I have a few elements with integral thermostats, and you can pop the whole lot out and just blob a bit of solder
on the contact effectively bypassing the whole thing.
