newbie- when should i bottle

Post by bramswell » Wed Dec 17, 2008 11:45 am

I have read lots of posts on here about bottling but im still not sure when.

im brewing 100% satisfaction using so4 yeast, and smart price water. from what i have read it should be done in about 4 days but with a lot of yeast drop out.

so my question is do i bottle after the primary fermentation and bottle straight from that without priming or prime in a second FV and bottle from there to avoid to much sludge in the bottles.(i will be using PET bottles)
i was going to do a secondary fermentation for 10 days but dont want flat beer.but using so4 i have read there doesnt seem to be to much yeast left for carbonation in the bottle.

I bottle straight from the FV after 10 days of fermentation, with 1/2 a teaspoon of glucose per pint in the bottle. The longest I've left an S-04 brew in the FV is about 2 weeks, it was very clear going into the bottle but still carbonated fine. I put the bottles in a 18~20°C place for a week & then move it somewhere cooler to condition.
