Harts in Stowmarket have a limited range, but are worth noting if anywhere near the town. So not not good for browsing, but they will get anything in from the Youngs list and they offer 10% off on production of a CAMRA card.

May & Bretts on the High St. in Great Dunmow, Essex (about 10 mins east of Stansted, not too far from Bury St.Edmunds) have a pretty good range of kits, AG ingredients and equipment, although they are not a dedicated HB shop. They also have an online shop at http://www.brewingshop.co.uk/ if you want to have a look there first.

There is a new Home Brew Shop opened in Harwich on the Main Road, geared really to kit brews but they are eager to please and can get stuff from Youngs. rather limited for AG though.

Harts is a lovely shop and the two old ladies who run it can get you what you need if they haven't got it in stock, although I'm always amazed at what they have got but it's only open Thurs, Fri and Sat so you have to plan your brewday and check every bit of your kit well in advance.

The Brewers Barn in Ipswich. It is opposite Coes clothes store.
They have a website too, so you can see the sort of stuff they have in stock.

It is still a limited selection, but they may have what you are after.

That explains it, Harts is my nearest HBS, but I have yet to see the shop actually open!

Couple here in Ipswich. As mentioned, Brewers Barn. Also The dove street Inn have a little brew shop opposite with some good stuff. Brewers barn may stock more ingredients, but a bit pricey in my opinion.

If you head down make sure to come say hi at Briarbank Brewpub too :D

There's always Goodlife Homebrew in Norwich I guess. It's obviously further away but they do have a good stock. Not as cheap as some of the other online shops but for a look around they're not too bad. Have a look at their website before you go would be my advice.
I'm surprised that with muntons in Suffolk there isn't a dedicated brew shop

Me too.
I am pretty sure that the staff can buy things, so if you know someone who works there then you can get hold of certain things - although kits are all I have ever heard of being bought. Hopefully its all above board!
I guess for such a large outfit, it isn't worth them staffing a retail shop though.

Beautiful Beers, St Johns Street, Bury St Edmunds. see website.
They cater mainly for all grain brewers and have a good range of hops and grains as well as DME and yeast. It's all at the back of the shop, the rest being taken up by a great range of bottled beers from around the world. Worth a visit!
There's also a wilkinsons for kit brewers.
