10th AG Brew - 20/01/07

My AG total has finally made double figures and I am going to do a Bitter and Twisted (recipe link below).

Mash is almost complete. I had a bit of adjusting to do at the beginning of the sparge as I was only at 63C but after a kettle full and a stir I was bang on 66C. I'm just waiting for the sparge water to heat up but will hopefully be onto the next stage in a few minutes. 8)

Good luck.
Are you an inny or outy brewer?
It's nice weather here today.

I'm an Inny Outy. I do the mash and sparge in the comfort of the kitchen and relegate the boil to the garage. :)

Weather up here is awful. Rain was battering off the window all night and wind is gusting up quite ferociously aswell.

Sparge almost complete (I'm batch sparging) so will be onto the boil fairly soon.

I seemed to get a pretty bad efficiency today. Perhaps it was the slack mash due to not getting the strike temperature right.

I have ended up with 21litres @ 1038. The yeast has just been pitched (I really should look into the chillers).

I was planning to bottle this beer but the amount I have in the fermentor will probably leave me with just over 4 gallons of beer after all the yeast and other crap falls out. So, what do we all know that is long and shiny and takes 4 gallons?
