Hop Variety Poll
Hop Variety Poll
Im doing a little research and wondered what sort of hops people use the most.
Re: Hop Variety Poll
I would say my most used hops were goldings, challenger, magnum and cascade/centennial.
Re: Hop Variety Poll
According to BeerAlchemy my top 4 over the past year have been, Goldings, Fuggles, Cascade, and Norther Brewer
Re: Hop Variety Poll
I seem to be using Goldings and Fuggles the most, closely followed by Challenger.
Re: Hop Variety Poll
I think, without a doubt, Goldings and Fuggles will be in the number one and two spot.
For me, probably Styrian Goldings, Hallertau, Cascade, Amarillo. With Aurora starting to make it into my regulars.
Hoping to branch out into some varieties I don't use much, probably some of the English varieties that don't get much recognition and some NZ hops. I'm going to do a series of single hop beers I reckon.

Re: Hop Variety Poll
Beer Engine tells me my top four hops over the last year were:
Saaz (29.3%) - this is probably skewed though as they are only around 3% AA, so in weight i have used lots
Golding (19.7%)
NZ Cascade (7%)
US Cascade (6.7%)
Amarillo, Galaxy and Nelson Sauvin are the runners up with approx 5% usage each.

Re: Hop Variety Poll
Overwhelmingly Fuggles. Two out of my 3 regular brews use just Fuggles. The other uses Challenger and a bit of Goldings for aroma.
Best wishes

Fuggles romping home with it at the moment with Goldings snapping at his feet
Re: Hop Variety Poll
I use Fuggles and Goldings a lot but then have a run on 'C' hops for a change. I like the in your face hoppiness of Amarillo and the likes but then enjoy something more floral and 'relaxed'.
I'll be trying some different hops this year but think I'll be giving Nelson Sauvin a miss for a while. I enjoyed the beers I made with it last year but the flavour got a bit much and I think I sickened myself of the taste.

Re: Hop Variety Poll
I couldn't vote either.
My top 6 over the last 2yrs are;
Styrian Goldings 21%
Goldings 17%
US Cascade 15%
Challenger 14%
Fuggle 10%
NZ Willamette 9%
The others I used in descending order are, Bramling X, Amarillo, Northdown and Chinook.
As adm said the AA% distorts the %age somewhat.

I could not get my vote to register either.
The hops that I have the most quantities of are Fuggles, Goldings, Challenger and Styrian Goldings. The first three because they are the most used in the latest GW book and the Styrians because they are my favourite hop for flavour.

Re: Hop Variety Poll
You might have split the Goldings vote by listing separate Goldings and EKG.

Re: Hop Variety Poll
I voted challenger as challenger are nice But its probably Fuggles that is most used, though I'm always trying new things so maybe hard to decide.
