this is my first attempt at my own recipe aided by several pints of homebrew and being brewed tomorow, what do you think?

19l of bakers b*stard

3.5 kg marris otter pale
0.5 crystal malt
0.25 belgian aromatic malt

60g Fuggles 60 mins
30g Golding 15 mins
10g Goldings 0 mins

gervin ale yeast

howsat?

ive also got some maize , black malt, roasted barley and some styrian golding hops as well.

I just made a batch that was similar to your recipe:

Maris Otter and American 2-row
.75 lbs. Crystal
2 oz Aromatic
2 oz Amber malt
1 lb flaked maize

Challenger for bittering
EKG for flavor and aroma

Nottingham yeast ('fraid I've had bad luck with WL002 and shyed away)

The wort smelled and tasted pretty good. I think it's time to send it to secondary.

Good luck with your recipe!

 i spose thats a silly question as i was going to put in a lot more , i will reduce it down to 300g and add the maize to pep it up a bit i think , cheers Daab

its come out okay by pure luck, the final recipe was ;

"about" 3.5 kg of pale marris otter
"roughly" 300gm crystal
"around" 250 gm aromatic
500gm flaked maize (said so on the bag)
"at a guess" 300gm demerara (what was left in the packet)

two hands of fuggles for 60 mins
one hand of goldings for 20 mins
a three fingered pinch of goldings in at the end

gervins dry yeast

boiled for 90 mins (well about 100 as i was watching the 3.15 at cheltenham)

result; about 1050 gravity, nice colour , nice taste (so far) and two wins on the horses

spot on ! :D

If this were me, it would turn out to be precisely the perfect recipe...with no way to duplicate it!

I love homebrewing. :D

Nice! I just bottled mine Saturday, after dryhopping in a secondary for a week. It tasted great, even flat and warm. I'm excited to taste it in a week or so. Easter present to myself!
