Have just had my first boil over - had a taste of the gunk on the side and unbelievably caramely / toffee (probably due to all that golden syrup and molasses)

Mmmmm beer :D

Ahh Bishop's tipple :D I remember drinking that at the Kingston Mill when I was at college during the break before economics.....Never did well at Economics! Is it still being produced, or did Gibbs Mew get taken over?

I have a friend who's not keen on strong beer. When asked what he likes, he usually says "anything that doesn't have old, or parts of a bishop in its name"

A pint of Thomas Hardy's Ale then

Have a good brewup, and keep us abreast of developments.

Hmmm goldings
Using for the first time Slurp the apprentices hops ( well strictly speaking Charles Faram) and very nice they look and smell. There was a large flotilla of pips which I skimmed off ( about 6 tablespoons ). I am guessing the pips have no part to play ( apart from blocking the hop filter  )

Have been going OTT on the grain to avoid over sparging. Stopped at 1010. Be interesting to see if I hit the 1066 OG.

Boil due to finish 9:40

im just starting mine now, although i might use less hops as per Daab's advice, dave line states 100gm goldings so i might use about 80gm hopefully that will be enough.

One for the bottlers.
About to bottle this one tonight. Has been finished at 1016 for about a week - guess I should still add 1/2tsp priming sugar or will there be enough left in there for yeast to chomp on ?
