Fining prior to bottling

Post by Matt » Mon Apr 02, 2007 1:03 pm

I forgot to add whirlfoc to my brew on Friday  Can anyone recommend one of the fining products for use at the end of fermentation, and prior to bottling.

There seems to be a raft of different options and I believe what I'll need is something that deals with break material, rather than suspended yeast :?:

Cheers,
Matt

Thanks DaaB.

I've had mixed results with Irish Moss, and a couple of batches of not quite clear beer (probably under-pitching). However I used Whirfloc for the first time when brewing DRB's Bramling Beauty two weeks ago and it is amazingly clear, like a glass of whisky … so I'm on the clear beer trail, and the batch in question is for serving at my folks 60th birthday party so I want it to look nice.

By auxiliary finings, do you mean, for e.g. Beer Brite?

OK DaaB. Thanks. I've read the Brupaks spec for the aux.

Is gelatine for clearing yeast left in suspension?
