Monsieur Le Voss brews again. Let us rejoice! :D What is the brown liquid composed of and what do you propose to add to it in the boiler and the fermenter?

Keeping an eye on the boil, 30 min to go 8)

More info and piccies to come

Doing 100% satisfaction, straight out of the book which assumes 75% efficiency.

Final target is 1040 with 46ltrs and I'm already at 1048 with 49ltrs  8)

Great Vossy - will be good to hear how your HERMS is working.

The hops are added at rolling boil

The yeast is trying to crawl out of the cup

And it did

Yet another case of hops not interfering with a sight tube (98.6g EKG/46ltr)

HERMS....gotta love it

I've not brewed for a while and some of the mods I've made to my system worked, and some didn't.

The brew day went without hitch apart from testing my new plate chiller.

The info regarding those tribulations are going into the plate chiller thread.

Vossy its great to see you back at it

Also nice to see you HERMS system being used in anger. 8)

Out of interest how do you keep the hops out of the sight glass? Magic or luck?

The black elbow at the bottom of the sight tube is open straight to the copper.

I've seen it written many times, not to have a sight tube on your copper, but I have never had any hops go into the ST 8)

Some small pieces do get in, but they always drain out again, and in any case, I reverse flush the ST to clean it through the top elbow so no probs with cleaning  [/quote]

Surely you could solder a small piece a mesh to act as a filter. I guess though that if your not having problems then why try and find a solution :)

It already tastes gr8 :D and got the thumbs up from 'she that has no name'
