What to make????

Post by PieOPah » Mon Apr 30, 2007 3:44 pm

I have just had my latest order delivered from Hop & Grape. Now I have my eagerly awaited Sparge Arm :D

Anyway, I am not quite sure what to make....

I currently have a Porter in the Keg and a Light Summer Ale in Secondary (will eventually bottle when I have a chance).

So what do I make?

As a base Malt I have plenty of Marris Otter. I also have loads of Munich Malt that I would like to use up (about 3-4Kg)

I have Special B, Crystal, Black, Chocolate, Roasted Barley and possibly (but unlikely) something else.

I have a small variety of Hops but can't remember what! I also only have Nottingham Yeast available!

So, any ideas on what I should make next? I specifically want to be using the Munich Malt but don't need to use the others.

How about Arcener stout from Wheelers BCEBAH (1995)?
23 litres OG 1065 IBU 27 6.5% abv

4.8kg pale malt
1.5kg Munich malt
385g chocolate malt

20g Northern brewer hops
20g Hallertau hops

Mash at 67C for 90 minutes

If you modify the recipe in anyway you would then be justified in calling the brew "Arsing About"

I was tempted to make a vanilla stout but teh porter I got is making me think about whether or not I should.

I may well use this recipe and modify it a bit :)

Any other ideas will still be welcome. Will be a few weeks before I can brew.
