Maybe you just don't like 'em!! Its the interesting bitterness that I like about them, leaves you with a dry roof of the mouth in the after-taste :)
I quite like "dry" brews like well hopped "Cascade" brews....but my NS brews did'nt taste particularly dry.... they just tasted like some tw4t had topped my pint up with Ribena.

Please post a recipe...I am prepared to admit I may have just done 2 bad brews.....or maybe you are right and I never will like it...personal taste thing.

Yeah Oggy, I hated it the first time I tried it and I thought the same, tasted like Ribena. That's just what they taste like. I grew to like it though once I tried a few commercial beers that were brewed with it.

AG#13 – Bloody Nelson

Swap the CaraRed for standard Crystal, I never got the redness I was hoping for. I've never had the Ribena taste from NS.
I'd say my recipe below is pretty light on hops as I didn't want to over-do it on a first go with them.

12L batch:

Fermentables:
Golden Promise 2090g
Wheat Malt 260g
German Cara Red 260g

Hops:
Nelson Sauvin 60 mins 0 lbs. 0.4 oz 10g (FWH)
Nelson Sauvin 15 mins 0 lbs. 0.4 oz 10g
Nelson Sauvin 0 mins 0 lbs. 0.4 oz 20g (I’ve doubled this from 10g as the hops were smelling good)

Final Volume: 12 Litres
Original Gravity: 1.048
Final Gravity: 1.012
Alcohol Content: 4.7% ABV
Total Liquor: 18.8 Litres
Mash Liquor: 6.5 Litres
Mash Efficiency: 75 %
Bitterness: 34 EBU
Colour: 15 EBC

Have you tried dark crystal pdtnc? The last brew I did ended up with a very red tone to it!

Good stuff! I'll be buying some of those as well (as soon as I've finished up the packs in my freezer).

How about trying to get hold of some Galaxy, Riwaka or Motueka hops to add to the lineup? A lot of the NZ and AUS hops are superb and really different.
