bottling hefe

I'm bottling my heffe tonight,I saw somewhere on her the amount to prime with it was quite a lot if I remember, will the bottles withstand that sort of priming 160g for 13 lt, or should I stick to the norm.

Are you talking about glucose/brewing sugar?

If so 160g in 13lt will give you 4 volumes of carbonation (that is, 4 pints of co2 for every pint of beer) which is a smidgen on the high side for a hefeweizen but not unheard of.

I think i'd go for 110 grams of brewing sugar to go for 3 volumes which is around average - still quite fizzy.

Also it probably depends what bottles your using. I've never had any bottle bombs but I don't know what kind of bottles everyone else uses. Shouldn't have any problems with 3 volumes of CO2 though unless you're using commercial lager bottles.
