Back at last....

Post by crow_flies » Thu Jun 14, 2007 1:45 pm

Well its been a couple of months since I last brewed. I'm now relocated to Norfolk and its high time to get the shiny out again. cleared this weekend with SWMBO and gonna fire up either Sat afternoon or Sunday morning.

I'm getting seriously low on the Stunning Styrian, which incidentally bottled and mellowed into a beautiful beer.... the T58 softened and gave it a slight wheatbeer flavour.

anyhow, I think I'll go for my (not as Ray pointed out...) Wherry clone III as I loved the flavour of it with the Chinook steeped at the end. Here is the recipe again... I may even double up and bottle half and barrel the rest.

3.80 kg Pale Malt, Maris Otter (5.9 EBC) Grain 90.5 %
0.40 kg Caramel/Crystal Malt - 60L (120.0 EBC) Grain 9.5 %
45.00 gm Fuggles [4.50%] (60 min) Hops 19.3 IBU
30.00 gm Goldings, East Kent [5.00%] (30 min) Hops 11.0 IBU
30.00 gm Chinook (30 min) (Aroma Hop-Steep)

90min mash @ 67.8

I'll try and take some pics of the new brewhouse.... Im in a pentshed now, but have aspirations to build it in the garage once work on the house is out of the way....

Welcome back CF.
Are you going to leave the Wherry clones as a trilogy or do you have more varients in you?

Hope the unpacking wasn't to painful

well I still have to try one to try per Ray's instructions - i.e. no american hops and no steeping - but for this first I'll stick to the 3rd version - I just need beer!!!

Camera all set - beer shed was the first thing to be organised (see where my priorities are). Fridge/freezer is in the lounge while we do work on the house - only things in the freezer are 6 bags of hops....

Can't wait till the weekend.

good luck tomorrow, hope the change in water doesn't throw you, it's not been filtered by seven other people before it gets to you out in Norfolk!
